Full Frame Replacement ProjectThese are commomly known as complete or full tear outs and involve all of the same steps as standard window installation, plus a few others. Full frame replacement is necessary when the jambs and sills need to be removed due to deterioration, termite damage, water rot, etc. Many times this is the case on older homes that have compromised openings around old aluminum or wood frame windows. Additional Steps InvolvedWith inserts, the installer removed the jamb liners, preps the jambs and inserts the window. With full frame replacement, the installers removes the jambs until they get down to the rough opening for the window. They fix the sills or walls and replace rotted or damage wood with new, sturdy replacements. The opening is prepped and often times a sill pan is installed on the bottom of the opening that moves water away from walls to the outside should moisture get in down the road.
